Network Technology Coordinator, ITSJob Number: APrimary Location: Southwest Side-501 W 35th St (Bridgeport)Position Type: Union PositionSalary Range: $60,454.53 to $91,091.76Job SummaryReporting to the Director of ITS School Technology Support Shared Services, the Network Technology Coordinator (TechCo) is a dynamic, highly mobile technical expert responsible for technology support functions for schools without a dedicated Technology Coordinator or Computer Technician. The Network TechCo will deliver timely on-site and remote technical support, prioritizing urgent and high-impact requests, minimizing disruption to education and optimizing technology performance. Frequent travel between schools is required for on-site support.

The Network TechCo will work under a Shared Services model where they will be assigned to a set of schools by Geographic Network Regions. This ITS Shared Services model creates a unified and efficient technology support system for schools.ResponsibilitiesThe Network Technology Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities:Assist with device management and asset compliance in collaboration with key ITS teamsCollaborate with School Administrators to implement best practices around managing schools devices and technology, ensuring compliance with security and acceptable use protocolsSupport assigned Schools with the annual CPS Asset & Physical Inventory AuditAssist assigned schools with Jamf Pro to manage the school's Apple devicesEnsure device software compliance across all device platforms (Windows, Chromebooks, Apple), to include compliance for Assessment ReadinessCoordinate with applicable ITS teams to conduct routine hardware assessments to ensure devices are kept in good working orderProvide network and system maintenance support, executing preventative maintenance schedules for network and computer systemsProvide network troubleshooting in collaboration with the ITS SOC team and perform visual inspections of network equipment to ensure optimal performanceProvide technical assistance to school staff and studentsProvide guidance to school staff on the ITS student/staff account management proceduresTroubleshoot hardware, software and network issues for staff and students based on tickets submitted by school users via the District's ticketing system (i.e., ServiceNow)Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and network equipment to ensure optimal performanceAssist with technology equipment moves within the school, as needed, related to CPS school construction projectsConduct technical training and support in collaboration with other ITS teams who also provide training and supportConduct training sessions for school staff and students on various technologies; integrate new tools into daily operations and curriculum; and provide ongoing supportSupport the ITS Student Tech Crew programCommunicate and collaborate with school administrators, their designees, and ITS staff and vendorsMaintains accurate, detailed, and timely records of support requests, resolutions, and travel in the District's Ticketing System (i.e., ServiceNow)Participate in team meetingsOther duties as assignedQualificationsIn order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the Network Technology Coordinator must possess the following qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is requiredExperience: Minimum of three (3) years in systems administration or technical support is requiredExperience in basic computer hardware setup/troubleshooting and break-fix repairs (laptops, desktops) is requiredExperience with device re-imaging, software deployment, and basic AV equipment setup/troubleshooting is requiredExperience in an educational or multi-site environment is preferredKnowledge, Abilities, and Skills:Excellent customer service skills, including a positive, professional attitudeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExceptional problem-solving abilities with a methodical approachProven technical proficiency in diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network connectivity issues, including break-fix and re-imagingStrong understanding of LAN/WAN concepts, network protocols, common operating systems (Chrome OS, iOS, Windows), and device platforms (Apple, Chromebook, Windows devices)Skills in providing training are highly desirableAbility to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently in a mobile environmentProficiency in using ticketing systems (e.g., Service Now)Ability to stay current with evolving technologies and trends and adhere to district policies and guidelinesOther Requirements:Physical Work: exerting or lifting twenty (20) to fifty (50) pounds occasionally, or up to fifteen (15) pounds frequentlyFrequent and regular travel to various school locations is requiredMust have access to reliable transportationConditions of Employment:As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:Establish/Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district. The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary/part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
