Network TechnicianShifts: Mon - Fri 02:30PM - 11:00PMLocation: New York, NY 10036Duration: 6 to 7 months with possible extension or hirePay Rate: #####/hr. on W2Description: Network Technician with a proven track record in:Racking and stacking of network devicesCable patchingPhysical layer troubleshootingEquipment disposal activitiesInstalling and troubleshooting Cisco and Avaya IP phonesResponsibilities:The patching cabling between network equipment and customer’s networkThe installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closetThe installation, troubleshooting and de-installing network equipmentInstall/swap out devices (e.g., phone, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)Install, troubleshoot, and de-install Network monitoring toolsComplete all hard and complex Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levelsAct as interface between customer’s associates and managementProvide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructurePerform onsite call-through, data, voice, website and security testingPerform back-up testing to ensure all systems are connected to the customer’s network as directedSupport carrier testing of circuitsAssist with facilities effortsPower and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoralWater problemsEmergency cooling restorationFire suppression exercises, restoration, and post fire eventsSupport inventory management activitiesReceiving inventoryTagging of assetsTracking spares (crash kits)Ordering inventoryUpdating inventory recordsPrepare and return damaged equipmentAct as an interface, as needed, between associates at the applicable location and centralized project / operations / MAC managementCoordination services will be provided 24x7; Coordinate with and support other third party vendors (e.g., telecommunications, wiring, distributed antenna solutions, WAN/LAN management) in compliance with customer’s requirements.Requirements:Must be proficient in utilizing technical tools such as Sniffers, BERT testers, cable testers, and fiber testers.Requires experience in working in communications closetsMust be able to perform rack and stack activitiesMust be able to safely lift heavy objectsMust understand cable patching processes and proceduresMust be familiar with 66 Block and 110 Block cross connect proceduresMust have a basic knowledge of data communications networking.Must be able to assist in troubleshooting issuesMust understand network terminologyMust be familiar with IP phoneMust be able to program Cisco phonesMust be able to install Avaya phonesMust be able to troubleshoot Avaya and Cisco phonesRequires good interpersonal communications skillsMust be able to explain technical issues in a way the customer will understand an issueMust be able to interpret a customer’s issue in a way that will allow technician to facilitate a resolutionExperience and Education:5+ years of experience in data communicationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredMust have a basic knowledge of Cisco switches and routersMust have a basic knowledge of local and wide area networking.
