Network SpecialistThe Network Specialist is a member of a multidisciplinary team and reports to the Director of Cyber Security and Network Operations at the Moses Weitzman Health System. This role supports—and may lead, when appropriate—activities related to the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of the Moses Weitzman Health System network infrastructure.
Responsibilities include analyzing and monitoring network performance, providing technical support, troubleshooting issues through resolution, performing system maintenance, and optimizing local and wide area network connectivity.The Network Specialist is also responsible for installing, upgrading, configuring, and maintaining network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, wireless infrastructure, and other network devices in accordance with established standards.Additionally, this role collaborates with IT and business departments to support system integration, maintenance, issue resolution, documentation, and procurement activities as directed.Responsibilities:Support and, when appropriate, lead initiatives related to the planning, implementation, enhancement, modification, and replacement of network infrastructure componentsCollaborate with IT management, project managers, team leads, and business stakeholders to execute network-related activities within defined timelinesResearch network products, services, protocols, and standards to support procurement and development effortsMonitor and analyze performance across LAN, WAN, and wireless networksEnsure stable operation, high availability, and optimal performance of the Moses Weitzman Health System network environmentIdentify, recommend, and remediate network performance issuesNetwork Administration:Administer and maintain network infrastructure, including configuration, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of network devicesManage network configurations, backups, and version control in accordance with change management proceduresMaintain network access controls, including VLANs, segmentation, NAC, and firewall rule administrationPerform routine system maintenance, including firmware updates, patching, and hardware replacementsEnsure network documentation (topology diagrams, configurations, procedures) is accurate and up to dateParticipate in change management processes, including planning, testing, and implementing network changesImplementation & Support:Install and configure network hardware, including firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, cabling, and UPS systemsProvide Tier II/III network support and troubleshoot complex network issues through resolutionSupport system integrations across clinical and business applicationsSecurity & Monitoring:Perform security baseline configurations, vulnerability scans, forensic analysis, and support penetration testing effortsActively monitor systems for potential intrusions using approved tools and escalate concerns immediatelySupport risk assessments by identifying vulnerabilities, recommending controls, documenting findings, and assisting with remediation plansEnforce Moses Weitzman Health System IT security policies, standards, and best practicesParticipate in incident response activities, including
