Job Description: ENSD Technician – Fiber Optic & Network Infrastructure

Job Summary

The ENSD Technician will support backbone network deployment projects by installing network hardware, fiber-optic cabling, and related infrastructure. The role involves reviewing engineering drawings, verifying materials, following standard operating procedures, documenting completed work, and assisting network engineers with troubleshooting and provisioning.

The ideal candidate should have strong technical, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Flexibility to travel extensively and perform physical installation tasks is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and understand engineering drawings, design packages, and installation procedures.
• Verify the Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure all required materials and equipment are available.
• Assemble and install network hardware according to project specifications.
• Run, route, and patch pre-terminated fiber-optic cables.
• Label cables, hardware, ports, and network connections accurately.
• Assist network engineers with network troubleshooting and provisioning activities.
• Capture photographs and collect other deliverables required for project documentation.
• Submit daily progress reports to the team lead and/or customer.
• Collaborate with other technicians to complete projects within established timelines.
• Coordinate with external vendors and project partners to ensure smooth execution.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and storage spaces.
• Assist other internal teams when project workloads are low.
• Participate in on-call rotations for emergency troubleshooting and support.
• Support quality audits and resolve installation-related issues as required.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in Google Workspace, particularly Google Sheets and Google Docs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good organizational, documentation, and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Willingness to travel extensively based on project requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in commercial network construction or hyperscale data center installations.
• Hands-on experience installing fiber-optic or low-voltage cabling.
• Experience in construction, telecommunications, electrical installation, or a related technical field.
• Experience troubleshooting or repairing network equipment and cabling.
• Familiarity with network infrastructure installation and quality-control procedures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move around the worksite for extended periods.
• Ability to regularly carry a ladder weighing approximately 20 lbs.
• Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing up to 50 lbs multiple times per day.
• Ability to perform hands-on installation and cabling activities.

Travel Requirements

• Extensive travel, potentially up to 100%, may be required depending on project workload and location.
• Candidates must be flexible to support projects at different sites.
• Availability for on-call emergency troubleshooting may be required.
