Network Software EngineerAs a Network Software Engineer at Network Perception, you will lead the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art network modeling solution that is a core part of our software products. This position combines in-depth knowledge about networking protocols and access control algorithms with extensive software engineering practice and the ability to implement reliable software modules with highly-usable APIs. The company was founded at the University of Illinois by a team of industry leading security experts.QualificationsStrong analytical and problem solving skillsIn-depth knowledge about networking protocols and the TCP/IP stackPerfect understanding of access control lists, address translation, tunneling, and standard routing protocolsStrong expertise in Python and large code baseFluent with Unix toolset and GitSolid experience with test-driven developmentBS or MS in Computer Science (or related) with at least 5 years of relevant experienceResponsibilities:Lead the implementation of a network modeling moduleAnalyze complex requirements and identify efficient design optionsBuild reusable code and libraries for future useOptimize the application for maximum speed and scalabilityImplement security and data protectionDesign and implement data storage solutionsCollaborate as a full time member of the software development teamParticipate in code reviews and research discussionsSupport quality assessment operations and technical requests from developers and usersAdditional experience highly desirable:Experience with high-performance computing, scalable memory allocation, and/or task schedulingKnowledge of high-performance programming language such as C++ or GolangExcellent ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and discuss optionsStrong knowledge of formal methods and software verificationExperience with computer security and secure programmingAdditional InformationLocation: Position is located in Chicago.
