Hybrid Full Time IT Services and IT Consulting

Our client is looking for a Network Operations Engineer to own and improve the network that keeps their multi-site firm running. You’ll have real influence here. You’ll handle the day-to-day health of the network, and you’ll also help shape where it goes next as we move from a mostly Cisco environment toward a more hybrid, multi-vendor architecture.

You’ll report to the Director of Infrastructure and Security and work closely with their Information Security, Systems, and Helpdesk teams. They are a small team, so your work is visible, your ideas get heard, and you’ll see the impact of what you build.

What you’ll do

  • Keep our network secure, reliable, and up to industry best practices through hands-on monitoring, maintenance, upgrades, and optimization.
  • Partner with team leads across IT to simplify and streamline how we support and provision network services.
  • Work side by side with InfoSec to design and deliver network-based security initiatives.
  • Build and maintain clear documentation for new and existing systems and help create a culture of knowledge sharing and cross-training across the IT group.
  • Make sure the network fully supports the firm’s broader technology initiatives as they come up.

What you’ll work with

  • Cisco Nexus and Catalyst switching and routing
  • BGP-based EVPN and Cisco NDFC
  • BGP-based internet edge
  • SD-WAN
  • Cisco and Meraki wireless
  • SolarWinds NPM/NCM

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience supporting Cisco and enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Strong expertise with Cisco Nexus, Catalyst, ISE, and wireless platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of network architecture and protocols, including routing and switching, ACLs, 802.1X, VXLAN, and VoIP, plus experience with network and performance management tools such as SolarWinds.
  • Curiosity about multi-vendor and emerging network technologies, and an interest in helping us evolve beyond a single-vendor environment.
  • Sharp troubleshooting skills and the confidence to solve problems on your own when needed.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, especially the ability to document systems and procedures so others can use them.
  • A collaborative, generous working style. You enjoy building relationships with teammates and end users, and you share what you know.
  • The ability to prioritize well and stay organized in a fast-moving environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
