As a Network Engineer Senior, you'll design, support, and optimize an enterprise-scale network that keeps thousands of users and systems connected, secure, and mission-ready every day.How You'll Make an ImpactProvide day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for a large-scale Juniper and Cisco switching infrastructure.Configure and maintain load balancers and boundary security devices (e.g., firewalls, edge routers) to ensure resilient and secure connectivity.Use Forward Networks to:Build virtual replicas ("digital twins") of the production networkSimulate and validate SDN code changes before they go liveDocument and visualize the physical and logical network topologySafeguard network integrity, performance, and security across a distributed environment supporting several hundred thousand endpoints.Monitor and respond to network events and incidents, leading root cause analysis and driving permanent fixes.Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and documentation in line with industry and organizational standards.Ensure alignment with security policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.Participate in planning and executing network upgrades, migrations, and performance optimizations.Collaborate closely with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and application teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.Operate with a high degree of autonomy, proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex network issues.What You'll Need to SucceedEducation: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS)Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise networks using Cisco and Juniper technologiesTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking and core routing technologies, including:OSPF, BGP, EIGRPVLANs, VRFs, QoSExperience configuring and managing load balancers (F5, Citrix, or equivalent)Experience with boundary security devices, such as firewalls or network access control appliancesProficiency with Forward Networks or similar digital twin/virtual network simulation toolsRole RequirementsSolid understanding of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) concepts and architecturesProven ability to work independently and manage priorities in a complex, dynamic environmentStrong awareness of network security best practices, compliance standards, and patch management processesExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersWillingness to participate in an on-call rotation to support a 24/7 mission environmentPreferred QualificationsProfessional network certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, CCIE, or JNCIEExperience supporting high-availability, mission-critical environmentsFamiliarity with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible)Background in government or other highly regulated enterprise environmentsClearance & Certification RequirementsSecurity Clearance: TS/SCI with PolygraphCitizenship: U.S. citizenship requiredCertification: 8570-compliant with Security+(or the ability to obtain if not already held)The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500.
