Network Engineer II (Certus)

Network Engineer IIIridium is seeking a Network Engineer II to support and maintain Iridium's Gateway telecom and data architecture and associated service subsystems. In this role, you will serve as a key support resource, assisting with final-tier escalation support to ground systems operations, including Gateway Technical Operations (GTO), Tier 2 Customer Support, and Service Delivery teams. In this role, you will gain valuable experience with satellite telecom gateway technologies across on-premise and cloud environments. You will contribute directly to the triage activities that impact service reliability, operational excellence, and new service deployments.Collaborate with senior engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical issuesAssist in the operation and maintenance of Gateway subsystems and services, both on-premise and cloud-basedSupport the administration and maintenance of the remote monitoring and management system, including script updates, alert response, dashboard monitoring, and periodic system reviewsAssist in the identification, investigation, and resolution of operational issuesWork closely with the Operations team to enhance maintenance procedures and improve troubleshooting successPartner with team members to ensure that high-quality products and services are ready for production deployment according to scheduleInvestigate and resolve Tier 2 customer ticketsContribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation for Gateway network elements and infrastructureProvide technical support to both internal teams and external partnersPrimarily support the Iridium Certus service suiteBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience2+ years of relevant experience in the telecommunications or a related technical fieldWorking knowledge of Linux (Red Hat/CentOS), IP network infrastructure, VMware, ATCA platforms, and database systems/tools (Oracle, MySQL, MSSQL) from installation through maintenanceStrong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to othersHave confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your teamMust be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when neededBe active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with othersAny AWS certification (i.e., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, AWS Certified AI Practitioner, etc.)Knowledge of: Communications systems architecture, Circuit- and packet-switched voice/data communications, TCP/IP communications, VoIP systems, including network managementExperience with IPv4 networks, GSM, telecom systems, or real-time systemsExperience with software lifecycle processesExperience in software development experience (C, C++, Python)Experience in IP network engineering, development, integration, and testingBe on call to support major network issuesBe able to travel up to 10%This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. Base salary is only one part of our compensation package for this role. You may also be eligible for company stock and annual bonus.
