Network Engineer I

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Network Test & Certification Engineer to join our Product & Device Certification Lab team. In this hands-on lab role, you will evaluate, test, and validate enterprise networking equipment, edge hardware, and firmware builds before they deploy across commercial customer environments (including enterprise healthcare, banking, education, and retail).

You will partner directly with senior network architects and vendor engineering partners to execute structured hardware/firmware certification test plans, run traffic and data-transfer benchmarks, and document device performance throughout its lifecycle. This is an ideal launchpad role for an early-career engineer with strong foundational networking knowledge and hands-on lab aptitude.

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware & Lab Testing: Perform physical racking, cabling, provisioning, and hands-on functional testing of routers, switches, and edge devices inside the evaluation lab.
• Device & Firmware Certification: Execute rigorous test suites across multi-vendor firmware releases to certify performance, stability, and protocol conformance prior to commercial launch or end-of-life (EOL) transitions.
• Vendor & Platform Evaluation: Work directly with hardware platforms—specifically Nokia and Juniper environments—verifying interface behavior, throughput, and failover stability.
• Firmware Lifecycle Support: Assist in benchmarking and regression testing firmware updates across enterprise-grade platforms (including Cisco, Cisco Meraki, and Fortinet hardware as scoped).
• Test Documentation & Reporting: Record test outcomes, track anomalous packet/traffic behavior, log bugs, and produce structured certification reports for Data Product, Network Operations, and Engineering teams.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Partner day-to-day with senior lab engineers to learn specialized carrier/enterprise testing methodologies, test equipment operation, and device evaluation frameworks.

Required Qualifications

• 0 to 2 years of experience in network engineering, lab testing, hands-on field deployment, or a rigorous academic networking lab background.
• Hands-on experience with Nokia and Juniper platforms (lab, coursework, or enterprise environments).
• Demonstrated lab experience: Comfort with physical equipment handling, serial/console connections, fiber/copper patch cabling, and device provisioning.
• Solid core networking fundamentals: Ability to explain routing and switching concepts, IP addressing/subnets, VLANs, the OSI model, TCP/IP, and common routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, or static routing).
• Strong written communication and documentation skills for recording structured lab observations and test findings.
