Network EngineerHF Sinclair is seeking a Network Engineer based in Dallas, TX. This role is a senior-level technical role responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and operational support of enterprise network and connectivity services across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. This role serves as a subject matter expert for complex network technologies, provides technical leadership for large initiatives, and partners closely with infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure connectivity solutions that support evolving business needs.The ideal candidate combines deep traditional networking expertise with hands-on experience in Azure and cloud networking, automation, and modern network operating models.Job DutiesDesign, implement, and support enterprise network architectures across data center, campus, branch, and cloud environmentsArchitect and operate hybrid connectivity solutions, including on-prem to Azure integration (ExpressRoute, VPN, vWAN)Monitor health, performance, capacity, and availability of the enterprise network and cloud network servicesLead and participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident improvement effortsServe as senior escalation point (Tier 3) for complex production network issuesProvide strategic input and technical leadership for network modernization, cloud adoption, and digital initiativesDesign and support routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, load balancing, and firewall solutionsImplement and maintain secure network connectivity aligned with Zero Trust and defense-in-depth principlesPartner with Cloud, Security, Server, and Application teams to enable resilient application connectivityEvaluate emerging technologies and make architecture recommendations for short-, mid-, and long-term initiativesDevelop standards, reference architectures, and best practices for enterprise and cloud networkingAutomate routine network tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools where appropriateCoordinate and lead work with vendors, service providers, and managed services partnersProduce clear technical documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooksMentor junior engineers and act as technical lead on projects and initiativesParticipate in scheduled maintenance windows and provide on-call support as requiredExperienceMinimum of 7 years of progressive experience in enterprise networking rolesDemonstrated experience designing and supporting complex, multi-site enterprise networksStrong hands-on experience with: Routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, VRF) Network security (firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, NAC, Load Balancers) Wireless networking and controller-based architectures SD-WAN technologies and architectures Proven experience with Azure networking, including: Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, routing, NSGs, UDRs Azure VPN Gateway and ExpressRoute Azure Virtual WAN and hub-and-spoke architectures Load Balancers, Application Gateway, and private endpoints Experience operating in hybrid environments spanning on-premises and public cloud Working knowledge of network monitoring, performance management, and troubleshooting tools Experience participating in or leading technical projects with cross-functional teamsEducation LevelBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experienceRequired SkillsExpert understanding of OSI model Layers 1–7 and modern network architectures Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, network security principles, and encryption Ability to design for high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts and shared responsibility models Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools (e.g., ARM, Bicep, Terraform) Working knowledge of automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or equivalent) Experience integrating networking with identity, security, and application services Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions Capable of leading technical discussions and influencing architecture decisionsWork ConditionsPrimarily office-based or hybrid, with travel up to 20% as required May include work in data center, refinery, plant, warehouse, or field environments Subject to on-call rotation and participation in after-hours maintenance windows Work may include nights, weekends, and holidays during scheduled or emergency activitiesPhysical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
