Network EngineerUnder the supervision of the Information Technology Director, the Network Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining the network and system infrastructure that supports all City Departments data communications networks and computer systems.Duties & ResponsibilitiesNetwork architecture and designVLAN segmentation and implementationRouting and switching configurationFirewall management (in conjunction with Cybersecurity)VPN connectivity and site integrationIP addressing structure and management, Network performance and stabilityNetwork equipment lifecycle and firmware managementWork with the Cybersecurity and Systems Administrator to secure and optimize the networkAssess and improve VPN connectivity for performance, high availability, and redundancyMaintain network documentation and network mapsStandardize wireless SSIDs and configurationMaintain and respond to network monitoring and alerting systemsMaintain backups of all network device configurations and ensure recoverabilityCoordinate with vendors for troubleshooting and supportSkillsHandle stress effectively without it interfering with performance.Organize, set priorities, and exercise sound independent judgment within areas of responsibility.Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid and concise conclusions.Effectively communicate complex subject matter both verbally and in writing.Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environmentMust be organized and be able to manage projects of varying lengthsPositive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independentlyMicrosoft 365/Office 365/Exchange Online administration and supportMicrosoft server and client operating systems (setup, config, and migration)Server cluster architectureServer virtualization technologies and SwitchesMicrosoft PowerShell and other scripting languagesFamiliar with NIST 800-171 compliance requirementsExceptional technical documentation writing skillsEffectively communicate complex subject matter both verbally and in writing.Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environmentMust be organized and be able to manage projects of varying lengthsPositive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independentlyMentor/cross-train team members on existing and new technologiesAbilitiesMust be able to drive to and perform maintenance to all City-owned sites in all weather conditionsMay be required to lift objects weighing 50 pounds.Facilitate group processes, implement effective problem-solving solutions, and build consensus among competing interests.Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with elected officials, the city manager, department heads, other employees, employees of other agencies, and the general public.BenefitsThe City of Bixby offers paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as pension and retirement benefits, and paid time off for accrued vacation and sick leave to full-time employees.NoticeThe City of Bixby is an equal opportunity employer.Interested parties may submit an application online via the City of Bixby Jobs website (bixbyok.gov).
