Network Administrator IThe Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Network Administrator I in the Division of Information Technology. This title is governed by the New Jersey Civil Service Commission; meaning that a candidate for the position will be placed as a provisional employee. At a later date the candidate will be required to take an examination administered by the Civil Service Commission.
Candidates must score and rank high enough on this examination in order to remain in the position as a permanent employee.Under the limited supervision of a supervisory official, in a state department, institution, or agency, or in a local government agency, performs complex professional work which includes development, implementation, and maintenance of multi-network, multi-user Local Area Networks (LAN), Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), and/or Wide Area Networks (WAN); maintains centralized, decentralized, and remote network services; maintains network security and data integrity; provides consultations and recommendations to infrastructure managers, as required, to troubleshoot and resolve network problems, monitor overall performance, and conduct upgrades as required; may be assigned to the administration of Storage Area Networks (SANs); does other related duties as required.Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience. Seven (7) years of professional experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of multi-network, multi-user Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), and/or Wide Area Network (WAN) environments, including or supplemented by a minimum of eighteen (18) semester hour credits in mathematics, computer science, information technology, and/or computer information systems.
