NETA Field Technician

We are seeking for a skilled and experienced NETA Field Technician to join our team. This role involves performing testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage substation equipment to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical testing and maintenance, as well as extensive knowledge of industry standards, including NETA, IEEE, and NFPA. Successful candidates will be placed in Technician I Senior Technician titles commensurate with their certification and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switchgear including (but not limited to) the following:
    • Protective relaying and relaying systems
    • Circuit Breakers
    • Power Transformers
    • Current and Potential Transformers
    • Meters, Transducers, and Power system metering
    • Power Cables
    • Grounding Systems
    • Motors and Motor Starters
    • Station Batteries and Chargers
    • Alarm systems and Annunciators
    • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
  • Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended
  • Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communicating and interfacing with clients
  • Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment
  • Always make safety a top priority, realizing that the company has Zero Tolerance for those who do otherwise
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Power DB knowledge a plus
  • Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
  • Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
  • Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
  • Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
  • Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
  • Knowledge of drafting standards
  • Working in a team environment
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers

Education and/or Work Experience:

  • NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV) required
  • AAS in Electrical or Electronics Technology or equivalent experience in the high voltage industry
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in the high voltage industry

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up 75 pounds
  • Pre-employment drug testing and random drug screenings are required.
  • Pre-employment criminal background check
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam
  • Must be open to travel, with a minimum of 50%
  • Valid drivers license required, along with a clean driving record that must be maintained.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as well as occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
