Kidney Hypertension Transplant Specialists is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Nephrologist to join our growing and well-established private nephrology practice in San Antonio, Texas. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive kidney care across outpatient clinics, hospitals, dialysis facilities, and interventional nephrology settings.

This position offers a unique opportunity to practice the full spectrum of nephrology, including chronic kidney disease management, hypertension, dialysis care, transplant follow-up, hospital consultations, and interventional nephrology procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient nephrology care for patients with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, glomerular diseases, and acute kidney injury.
  • Manage patients receiving hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home dialysis therapies.
  • Perform hospital consultations and inpatient nephrology rounding.
  • Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, transplant teams, primary care physicians, and specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in call coverage and inpatient nephrology services as assigned.
  • Perform and/or assist with interventional nephrology procedures, including:
    • Fistulograms
    • Angioplasty of dialysis access
    • Tunneled dialysis catheter placements and removals
    • Temporary dialysis catheter placements
    • Paracentesis procedures
    • Ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures
    • Additional interventional nephrology procedures based on training and credentialing
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and dialysis facility medical management.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding kidney disease prevention and treatment options.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Nephrology Fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology
  • Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure
  • DEA registration and eligibility for hospital credentialing
  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in interventional nephrology procedures
  • Training in dialysis access management and endovascular procedures
  • Experience with home dialysis programs
  • Experience with kidney transplant patient management
  • Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
