Kidney Hypertension Transplant Specialists is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Nephrologist to join our growing and well-established private nephrology practice in San Antonio, Texas. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive kidney care across outpatient clinics, hospitals, dialysis facilities, and interventional nephrology settings.
This position offers a unique opportunity to practice the full spectrum of nephrology, including chronic kidney disease management, hypertension, dialysis care, transplant follow-up, hospital consultations, and interventional nephrology procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient nephrology care for patients with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, glomerular diseases, and acute kidney injury.
- Manage patients receiving hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home dialysis therapies.
- Perform hospital consultations and inpatient nephrology rounding.
- Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, transplant teams, primary care physicians, and specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in call coverage and inpatient nephrology services as assigned.
- Perform and/or assist with interventional nephrology procedures, including:
- Fistulograms
- Angioplasty of dialysis access
- Tunneled dialysis catheter placements and removals
- Temporary dialysis catheter placements
- Paracentesis procedures
- Ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures
- Additional interventional nephrology procedures based on training and credentialing
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and dialysis facility medical management.
- Provide patient and family education regarding kidney disease prevention and treatment options.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Nephrology Fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology
- Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure
- DEA registration and eligibility for hospital credentialing
- Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in interventional nephrology procedures
- Training in dialysis access management and endovascular procedures
- Experience with home dialysis programs
- Experience with kidney transplant patient management
- Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
