Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a BE/BC Outpatient Nephrologist to join a well-established department at Marshfield Medical Center - Iron Mountain. This position offers a combined Nephrology and Internal Medicine model within an excellent team culture, promoting a great work/life balance. The role involves basic to complex nephrology practice, with opportunities for involvement in medical education and research.

Practice Info

  • Combined Nephrology and Internal Medicine model
  • Clinic is adjacent to a Trauma Level IV - 49 bed hospital
  • Onsite dialysis center
  • Shared call responsibilities with Nephrology Physician Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examination
  • Admit (if applicable to setting)
  • Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to adolescent and adult patients presenting with illnesses and disorders of the kidney, high blood pressure, fluid and mineral balance
  • Provide dialysis of body wastes when the kidneys do not function
  • Be involved in medical education and research

Shift & Schedule

  • 36 direct patient contact hours weekly

Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Successful completion of an Internal Medicine residency program
  • Completion of a fellowship in Nephrology accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
  • Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
  • If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training
