Neonatologist

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Neonatologist for a dedicated nocturnist role within their academic division. This position offers overnight in-house coverage for Level III and Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), combining high-acuity clinical care with opportunities for teaching, mentorship, and academic initiatives. Responsibilities

• Provide overnight in-house coverage for Level III and Level IV NICUs
• Manage critically ill neonates, including extremely preterm infants and those requiring advanced life-sustaining therapies
• Attend and lead high-risk deliveries, including complex maternal-fetal cases
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and oversee stabilization of critically ill newborns
• Direct management of advanced respiratory support, including conventional and high-frequency ventilation
• Manage complex neonatal conditions requiring therapeutic hypothermia, inhaled nitric oxide, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Perform and supervise procedures (e.g., intubation, UAC/UVC placement, chest tubes)
• Supervise and teach residents, fellows, APPs, providing real-time bedside teaching and overnight clinical mentorship

Compensation

• Competitive academic salary
• Compensation range from $225,000 to $350,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Shift & Schedule

Requirements

• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• BE/BC in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship
• Eligible for academic appointment at the Assistant/Associate Professor level (rank commensurate with experience) to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
• Active (or eligible for) New York State medical license
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
