Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Neonatologist to join the region's largest team of board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists at Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, ND. This role offers the opportunity to provide specialized care in a Level III Regional NICU, supported by comprehensive transport services. The position also includes a joint appointment as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science, involving teaching medical students and residents.

- Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, ND, features the largest (40+ bed) Level III Regional NICU in North Dakota.
- The team includes 6 neonatologists and 14 staff NNP/PA, with 24/7 in-house coverage by NNP/PA.
- Supported by AirMed transport services (helicopter and fixed wing) covering the tri-state area, with over 300 pediatric and neonatal transports annually.
- Sanford Medical Center houses an 8-bed PICU with additional flex beds, shared with a 24-bed pediatric unit and the 40-bed Level III NICU.
- Sanford Health Fargo serves a catchment area of 1.2 million across ND, MN, and parts of SD and MT.
- Joint appointment as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science, teaching medical students and family medicine residents, and an upcoming pediatric residency in 2024.
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical exams.
- Admit (if applicable to setting), evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative service to newborns presenting with extremely complex and life-threatening problems such as severe prematurity, respiratory failure, shock, congenital abnormalities, hematologic, metabolic and neurologic derangements, and sepsis.
- Assist at the time of high-risk delivery and post-resuscitative care of the sick newborn.
- Teach medical students and family medicine residents, as well as an upcoming pediatric residency in 2024.

Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Pediatric residency program.
- Completion of a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training.

- Experience can be demonstrated by a fellowship log (for recent graduates) or a quality profile from current hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
- Must be able to demonstrate care for 50 neonatal patients in the last 12 months.
