Neonatologist
Location: Naperville and Elmhurst, Illinois
Overview
Endeavor Health is seeking an exceptional neonatologist to join the Division of Neonatology. The successful candidate will have completed an accredited neonatology fellowship and be BE/BC in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
Licensing and Certification
License: Illinois Medical License or pending. Certification: Board certified/eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-house and on-call coverage in the NICU at Edward Hospital and the Special Care Nursery at Elmhurst Hospital.
- Deliver comprehensive care for critically ill neonates, including management of preterm and term infants with complex medical and surgical conditions.
- Perform advanced neonatal procedures (intubation, central line placement, chest tube insertion, umbilical line placement).
- Manage ventilatory support (conventional ventilation, high-frequency ventilation, non-invasive respiratory support).
- Collaborate with neonatal nurse practitioners, pediatric hospitalists, respiratory therapists, nurses, and subspecialists to ensure coordinated evidence-based care.
- Provide delivery-room stabilization and attend high-risk deliveries as needed.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, contribute to individualized care plans, and engage in quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop evidence-based protocols and support clinical research to improve patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with maternal-fetal medicine specialists, pediatric subspecialists, and other providers to optimize neonatal care.
- Provide family-centered care by supporting, educating, and guiding parents and caregivers.
- Work a combination of daytime clinical shifts, overnight call, and weekend/holiday coverage according to department scheduling.
- Attend developmental follow-up clinics to monitor long-term outcomes of NICU graduates.
- Full-time FTE inclusive of 1,950 clinical hours annually.
- Potential additional moonlighting coverage at affiliated Endeavor Health hospitals, compensated at the applicable rate.
Qualifications
- Completed accredited neonatology fellowship.
- Board-certified/eligible in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
- Active Illinois medical license or pending license.
- Strong clinical skills in neonatal critical care, procedural competency, and ventilator management.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and family-centered care abilities.
- Commitment to quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and clinical research.
