Responsibilities
- Care for infants transitioning to extrauterine life.
- Monitor vital signs and initiate corrective action when necessary.
- Provide nutritional assessment and specialized feedings.
- Change dressings, insert catheters, and start intravenous therapy.
- Provide arterial and intravenous therapy.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment such as incubators and ventilators.
Qualifications
- Relevant certifications: BLS, NRP, STABLE.
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent acute care experience.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, stoop, and lift 10–20 pounds of equipment.
- Awareness of potential hazards from chemical exposure and infectious diseases.
- Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
