Navigation Engineer (Principal or Senior Principal Level)

Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems RQ-4 Global Hawk Program seeks a Principal Engineer or Sr. Principal Engineer in Navigation to support the Air Vehicle Navigation team in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The role focuses on RF performance for the navigation subsystem.

Responsibilities

• Perform navigation subsystem lab testing, flight test support, anomaly resolution, and supplier management.
• Conduct technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analysis, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
• Translate customer or product requirements into total systems solutions and into hardware and software specifications through functional, timeline, and trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition.
• Ensure alignment of designs with technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Science/Technology/Engineering/Math (STEM) with at least 5 years of experience, or a Master’s with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with no experience, or equivalent advanced degree and experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Matlab; working knowledge of RF devices and system architecture (amplifiers, bias‑T, splitters, etc.).
• General understanding of GPS, inertial sensors, and RF parameters (frequency, impedance, gain).
• Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS or PhD degree in STEM.
• Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
• Experience in flight test, supplier management, requirements development, and verification testing.
• Knowledge of passive and active components (inductors, capacitors, diodes, and transistors) and advanced RF device and system architecture expertise.
• Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, signal analyzers, and multimeters.
