Overview
This position provides frontline state mining regulation for southeast Wyoming, working under the Land Quality Division to enforce mining rules and regulations. The Natural Resources Program Principal will manage administrative and enforcement duties for diverse mining projects, conducting compliance reviews, inspections, and permit analysis while serving as an expert witness in administrative and judicial proceedings.
Key qualifications
- Bachelor's degree typically in the sciences, or 4–6 years of progressive natural resources work experience
- 1–2 years of progressive work experience with acquired knowledge at the level of a Natural Resources Analyst
- Knowledge of mining extraction, environmental laws, and ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply GIS software and field-capable tablets
- Ability to conduct field inspections including travel over varied terrain and ability to write detailed reports and notices of violation
