The Communications Director is responsible for messaging support, media outreach, and social media management. This will be a full time position based in Austin, Texas with extensive travel around the state.ResponsibilitiesBuild and execute the campaign's communications strategy, both short-term message calendar and long-term narrative arcPitch reporters, manage on-the-record interactions, and serve as the campaign's day-to-day point of contact for mediaBuild and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and producers across local, regional, and national outletsMonitor opponents, breaking news, and the political environment; turn around statements, releases, and quotes on tight deadlinesDraft and edit press releases, op-eds, candidate remarks, surrogate talking points, and statementsPrep the candidate for interviews, debates, and forumsRequirementsAt least one cycle of campaign event experience required, preferably in TexasMust have access to a personal vehicleWillingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.Strong written and verbal communication skills
