Music Adjunct (Fall 2026)

Germanna Community College invites applications for a part-time adjunct faculty member in Music. Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in Music. Instruction will occur online and in a classroom environment. The successful candidate will be able to successfully instruct and assist students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

This wide salary range reflects the diverse faculty ranks within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Final salary determination and placement within this range are based on the candidate's academic credentials and occupational experience as evaluated via the VCCS-10 process.

Required qualifications include:

  • M.F.A. or M.A. in music from an accredited university or college and have at least graduate 18 credits in their teaching field
  • Understanding of general music theory and history
  • Ability to work with a diverse population
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • Ability to use instructional technology

Additional considerations include:

  • Teaching online experience
  • Regular Substantive Interaction training
  • CANVASlms skills
  • Prior experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment
  • Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency
  • Experience with or willingness to learn artificial intelligence tools
