Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin. Lakeway is on the south shore of Lake Travis in the Texas Hill Country. The Medical Center is a 121-bed, full-service hospital and a certified primary stroke center and chest pain center. Lakeway has Magnet recognition for nursing professionalism and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Need experience in CT and X-ray
• Must be able to work independently
• Must live within 40 minutes from the hospital
• Shift: Thursday/Friday/Saturday 7 pm – 7 am
• Some call coverage — normally 3 days a month, usually during weekdays
• Operate GE scanners

Job Summary

The Multimodality Technologist, supervised by a Radiologist, performs imaging in two or more disciplines. At least 25% of work focuses on advanced areas like CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine, or Interventional Radiology. They work with ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.

Essential Functions

• Performs high-quality multimodality procedures according to exam protocol; maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards.
• Demonstrates knowledge of radiation dose reference levels and monitoring; takes action if doses exceed set levels.
• Uses iSTAT point-of-care testing for creatinine levels.
• Uses AIDET to communicate with patients; identifies service needs and ensures correct exams; establishes rapport and communicates clearly with patients and families.
• Prepares the patient and area for the procedure; positions the patient; uses immobilization devices; selects appropriate settings and exposure factors.
• Follows safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies; uses sterile techniques for invasive procedures; maintains hand hygiene.
• Maintains equipment and the work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards; collaborates with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operation; assists in maintaining supplies; screens access to the department per policy.
• Obtains, verifies, and maintains documentation such as requisitions, chart, patient history, pregnancy status, and procedures.
• Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems according to department policies.

• Maintain customer satisfaction by minimizing wait times and providing courteous service; monitor patient satisfaction and implement actions as needed.
• Maintain current knowledge and skills appropriate for all age groups; serve as a preceptor and trainer for new staff.
• Ability to take call if required.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an Accredited Program
• Experience: Less than 1 year of experience

Certification/Licensure/Registration: Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT); Computed Tomography (NMTB-CT); Radiation Safety (NMTB-RS); Nuclear Cardiology Tech (NMTC-NCT); Positron Emission Tomography (PET); Basic Life Support (BLS)

Approved modalities include ARRT and RDMS credentials across multiple imaging specialties, with licensure requirements as applicable in Texas. BLS must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer.
