Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures in both X-ray and CT modalities.
- Provide exceptional patient care while ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout imaging procedures.
- Explain imaging procedures clearly to patients and answer questions to promote cooperation.
- Verify patient information and ensure appropriate preparation prior to examinations.
- Operate X-ray and CT equipment safely and efficiently following departmental protocols.
- Produce accurate, high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by licensed practitioners.
- Maintain competency in all assigned imaging procedures and equipment.
- Adhere to radiation safety standards and best practices to minimize exposure.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to support timely and accurate patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational policies and procedures.
Education
Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
Experience
Required: 2 years minimum experience in diagnostic imaging and CT. Preferred experience in emergency, pediatric, and orthopedic exams in both modalities. Must produce high-quality special imaging with little supervision and function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Familiarity with age-specific criteria is required.
Required Registration and Certification
- Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (C).
- Registered with South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, either from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
