Job Summary:
The Mule Wiring Design & Release Engineer (DRE) is responsible to lead the design of wire harness and electrical distribution systems while working with supplier CAD and Engineering Support teams, global Engineering, Program Management, and Manufacturing teams as required to design and build mule and prototype vehicles.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Read and interpret vehicle wiring drawings and schematics
  2. Translate OEM wiring requirements into 2D wiring drawings
  3. Root cause electrical wiring issues
  4. Assess and package harness designs
  5. Provide technical interface to the advanced wiring team
  6. Attend design reviews/coordination meetings
  7. Ensure customer specific requirements are met
  8. Assist functional areas between supplier and customer to meet requirements
  9. Establish and maintain customer interface on design issues and requirements
  10. Facilitate review/approval of related documents
  11. Track and report on program progress to ensure requirements are met in a timely manner
  12. Support pre-launch builds as well as product launches as required
  13. Customer support for current production product concerns as required
  14. The ability to read and interpret multiple supplier wiring drawings.
  15. The ability to translate OEM wiring requirements in the form of schematics into 2D wiring drawings.
  16. The ability to translate EE requirements into a form that is easy for suppliers or management that may not have technical knowledge of the requirements but need to understand for effective decisions.
  17. Electrical triage and debug skills for debugging vehicles often chasing ghosts due to supplier wiring errors or sometimes self-inflicted errors.

Experience: 2 to 6 yrs.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science in EE, ME, Comp Eng. or Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  2. Wire Harness Design, Routing and Packaging experience
  3. Experience with OEM change process, including change request, change control, and approval processes
  4. General computer skills
  5. General CAD skills (CATIA, Capital NX, Solidworks, and Mentor Graphics CAP-H)
  6. Outstanding communication and organization skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or Computer Science
  2. EDS component experience
  3. Teamcenter experience
  4. CATIA Routing experience
