Journeyman I - MachinistThis is a journeyman-level machinist responsible to complete scheduled and routine maintenance work along with performing many other duties both as part of a team and independently. Duties for machinist include, but are not restricted to, laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining parts and equipment. This position includes a progressive comprehensive training program to develop into a multi-craft mechanic.Responsibilities:Obtain daily work ordersSet up and operate a variety of machine toolsFit and assemble part to fabricate or repair to maintain industrial machinesObserve and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctionUnderstanding blueprints and field drawings and machine partsUtilize machine measuring equipmentDismantle machine or equipmentReplace defective partRepair, reproduce or rebuild various partsPerform welding and burning as neededFabricate machine partsPerform aligning of machines and field machiningOperate cranes, tow motors and forkliftsHave computer skillsKnowledge of metric systemAbility to work in heightsExperience with flange facers, boring holes, key cutters and journal squirrelAutoCAD experienceAssist mechanical craft as neededPerform other duties as assignedThe Skills You Will Bring:Personally exhibit safety as a core value and effectively communicate a shared vision for safetyRepresent both company policy and directionDevelop knowledge of department and mill operations processes, equipment and systemsUtilize excellent communication and interpersonal skillsWork effectively alone or within a teamUtilize strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectivelyAnalyze problems and develop solutions independently or with teamsBasic computer skillsMake timely and effective decisionsRequired Experience:Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalentMust be 18 years or olderEligible for employment in the USTechnical training or certification as a Machinist; or at least 3 years of work experience as a MachinistWilling and capable of working all shiftsAble to work in a team environmentPlus – must be willing to meet the following requirements :Undergo a drug screen for illicit use of drugs as a condition of employment.Submit to periodic drug screens as a condition of employment.Work any shift and/or a rotating shift scheduleWork overtime on a regular basis and with last minute notification.Work holidays and/or weekends on a regular basisRespond to emergencies during off hours and weekendsWear required safety equipment/PPEContinue to develop skills to become a multi-skill mechanic (including millwright, welding, and other fields as needed)Operate or work in industrial conditions (i.e.

warm/hot, dusty/dirty, around hazardous chemicals, noise, and heavy machinery or elevated working surfaces with proper safety training and safety protection).Preferred Qualifications:Associate degree in a maintenance discipline.Relevant work experience in an industrial environment.Strong math/physics understanding.Prior experience as a multi-skill mechanic.
