Senior Microsoft Systems Engineer

Phoenix, AZ 6 months CTH Pay rate - $60/Hour on W2

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft Systems Engineer to support and enhance our enterprise infrastructure environment. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical professional with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies, virtualization, high-availability systems, and enterprise support.

This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to provide remote support to field and store users, and a passion for improving infrastructure performance, reliability, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support to users in field locations and retail/store environments via phone and remote support tools.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot Microsoft-based infrastructure solutions.
  • Support enterprise systems with a focus on availability, performance optimization, and reliability.
  • Participate in infrastructure design reviews, issue investigation, root cause analysis, and resolution efforts.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Program Management teams to support business objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions.
  • Support and maintain server, desktop, mobile, and cloud-based technologies.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist with capacity planning, system monitoring, and performance tuning initiatives.
  • Contribute to process improvements and infrastructure best practices.

Required Technical Skills

Microsoft Infrastructure

  • Active Directory administration and support
  • DNS administration and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Office 365 administration
  • Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS)
  • High Availability and Failover Clustering solutions
  • Microsoft Network Load Balancing (NLB)

    • Virtualization & Remote Access

  • VMware ESX/ESXi
  • Citrix technologies

    • Enterprise Systems & Security

  • NetIQ
  • Trend Micro
  • Information Assurance (IA) controls
  • ITIL-based operational practices

    • Databases & Enterprise Applications

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of:
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • MySQL
    • Oracle Database
  • Experience supporting:
    • Microsoft BizTalk Server
    • Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS 2007)

    Automation & Scripting

  • Experience with PowerShell and other scripting technologies.
  • Ability to automate system administration and operational tasks.

  • Experience supporting mobile technologies and devices.
  • Strong understanding of systems management and infrastructure optimization.
  • Experience evaluating server, desktop, and mobile hardware solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams.

  • 5+ years of Microsoft systems engineering or infrastructure support experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise production environments.
