Job Description

  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
  • Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
  • Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • General physics and anatomy (Preferred)
  • Experience/knowledge of computers/networking (Required)
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures (Required)
  • Maintain responsibility for all Hospital continuing and annual education (Required)
  • Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures (Required)
  • Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff (Required)
  • Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail (Required)
  • Excellent customer service skills (Required)
  • Ability to deal efficiently, ethically, and courteously with all patients and hospital personnel (Required)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication with medical personnel that addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-appropriate needs of the patient population served within the organization (Required)

  • Associate (Preferred)
  • High School Grad or Equiv (Required)

Field Of Study

  • N/A

Work Experience

  • 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program (Preferred)

Licenses And Certifications

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
  • Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (R.T.(MR)ARRT)) (Required) OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (Required)

$28.68 - $53.35
