Job Description
- Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
- Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
- Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
- Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
- Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
- Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
- Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
- Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
- Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
- Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
- Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
- Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

- General physics and anatomy (Preferred)
- Experience/knowledge of computers/networking (Required)
- Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures (Required)
- Maintain responsibility for all Hospital continuing and annual education (Required)
- Must maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures (Required)
- Ability to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff (Required)
- Ability to perform MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail (Required)

- Associate (Preferred)
- High School Grad or Equiv (Required)
Field Of Study

Work Experience
- 1+ years experience in radiology and completion of MRI training program (Preferred)
Licenses And Certifications
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
- Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance Imaging (R.T.(MR)ARRT)) (Required) OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (Required)
