Job Summary and Qualifications
The MRI Technologist completes MRI and General Radiology examinations, interviews patients, reviews charts, evaluates patients for contraindications, and assists the radiologist. The role also includes starting IVs, operating technical systems, and promoting teamwork within the department.
What you will do in this role
- Complete MRI and General Radiology examinations with a focus on quality patient care.
- Interview patients, review charts, and obtain a complete history while evaluating labs before contrast injections.
- Screen patients for contraindications and assist the radiologist as needed.
- Operate imaging equipment to perform the correct ordered exam.
- Take plain film x-rays and transport patients to and from the department.
- Participate in PI plans and promote teamwork throughout the department and hospital.
- Demonstrate knowledge of human growth, development, assessment, and treatment of patients.
- Start IVs and ensure proper gauge for injection rate.
- Operate Meditech, Synapse, Tele‑Radiology system, CD Burner, Power Injector, and GE workstation.
- Follow facility‑endorsed risk mitigation strategies for handling hazardous medications.
Qualifications you will need
- Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
- At least 1 year of post‑graduate related experience.
- Current registration with ARRT and advanced certification in MRI.
- If not MRI registered, obtain MRI certification within 12 months of hire or be released from the position.
- Current BLS certification upon hire.
