Job Responsibilities

  • Produce cross-sectional MRI images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Acquire and analyze imaging data for diagnosis as requested by a licensed practitioner.
  • Organize and execute MRI procedures independently or with assistance of a licensed practitioner.
  • Prepare, administer, and document contrast administration in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Ensure patient safety through pre-screening for contraindications, control of access zones, and safe injection technique.
  • Maintain aseptic technique and oversee remote MRI Technologist Assistants as needed.
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic images following company protocols, RadSite Accreditation guidelines, and ARRT/ARMRIT practice standards.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with differing MR and power injection equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with radiologists, patients, staff, and families via electronic medical records and other channels.
  • Maintain confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Initiate, administer, and discontinue contrast via peripheral IVs and alternate vascular access points.
  • Use Akumin’s EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
  • Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR Technologist Assistants on-site or remotely.
  • Cover at least one shift in a 30-day period as a per-diem technologist and respond promptly to coverage requests.
  • Complete annual and ongoing education and site-specific competencies as directed by leadership.
  • Perform duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or equivalent preferred.
  • ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification required; state license acceptable when contractually allowed.
  • CPR Certification; BLS from AHA or ARC required.
  • ACLS certification where applicable.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Minimum 3 years of MRI technologist experience.
  • Ability to work at several locations.
  • Strong customer-service, organizational, multi-tasking, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications.
  • Local travel may be required.

Preferred Requirements

  • 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Experience Registry in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT.

Physical Requirements

  • Exposed to outside weather during patient transport if working on a mobile unit.
  • Exposed to a strong magnetic field.
  • Potential exposure to blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
  • More than 50% of time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive hand/arm/leg movements, see, speak, hear.
  • Less than 50% of time: stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, carry and lift (move non-ambulatory patients).
