As an MRI Technologist, you are responsible for patient safety and the performance of high quality MR studies. You ensure effective communication with customers, including radiologists, and may train new technologists and/or patient coordinators.
Responsibilities
- Patient safety, including pre‑screening for contraindications and aseptic injection technique.
- Producing high quality diagnostic images.
- Ordering supplies, cleaning the unit, and assisting in daily patient transport preparations.
- Effectively communicating with customers and/or radiologists.
- Training new technologists and/or patient coordinators.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- ARRT (R), ARRT (MR), or ARMRIT certified (or contract‑provided) in lieu of ARRT required.
- State license, if applicable.
- CPR Certification required.
- Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
- Trainees not certified in Magnetic Resonance by the ARRT or ARMRIT must have 6 months of clinical MRI scanning experience.
- Ability to work at several locations.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
- Local travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions during patient transport on a mobile unit.
- Exposure to a strong magnetic field.
- Possible exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious disease.
- More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements; see, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.
- Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance; carry and lift patients for transfer or examination.
