The MRI Technologist is responsible for ensuring patient safety and producing high-quality MRI images. They communicate effectively with patients, staff, and radiologists, and may assist in training new team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure patient safety through thorough pre-screening and proper aseptic techniques.
- Produce diagnostic-quality MRI scans and evaluate their technical accuracy.
- Position patients and manage safety protocols, including IV starts and contrast administration.
- Support daily equipment maintenance, manage supplies, and assist with patient transport.
- Coordinate scheduling and optimize patient flow.
- Train new technologists or patient coordinators as needed.
- Conduct safety screenings to identify hazards related to magnetic fields and equipment.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent, with an associate’s degree or related experience.
- Active certification from ARRT (R), ARRT (MR), or ARMRIT, and BLS certification.
- 1–2 years of MRI experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of infection control, sterile techniques, and medical terminology.
- Service-oriented with compassionate patient care abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
- Occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
- Regular stooping and kneeling.
