MRI TechnologistThe MRI Technologist is responsible for the production of quality MRI images through knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, MRI scanning and provide high quality patient care.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Full understanding of HIS, RIS, PACS to include ordering, monitoring workings, validation of images and completing studiesAbility to organize relative patient information, reports, and images (including priors) for interpretationInterviews patients for relevant medical history, explains exams and assists patientsInterviews patients to obtain a complete MRI Safety/Implant history. Cross references implant with known devices databases. Reports any safety issues to the attending radiologist for determination of MR eligibilityProduces images which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of MRI imaging as well as established imaging protocolsFollows MRI safety protocols and policiesDemonstrates ability to operate power injector systemIdentifies all patients using two patient identifiers (name and birth date)Demonstrates caring, excellence, leadership, pride, teamwork, integrity and center wide standards for serviceProvides all aspects of patient care based on established standards.
Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patientsKnows the general condition of the equipment at all times, knows how to operate all equipment required in the course of performing procedures. Documents and reports failures in a timely manner in accordance with policies and proceduresRecognizes normal and abnormal image findings and reports to supervisor or radiologistMaintains proper stock of medical and clerical suppliesAssists with rotating supplies and linenStarts and removes IV's for examsEscorts patients to exam/procedure rooms. Observes, records and reports patients conditions and reactions to drugs and treatments to providersEducation, experience and qualifications include:High School or GED requiredSatisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program/Magnetic Resonance Imaging/Nuclear Medicine/Radiation Therapy/Sonography Program in approved schoolRegistered with ARRT in Radiography (R) or ARMRIT (MRI) within one year of employmentMinimum 1 year experience as MRI Technologist preferredBasic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
