MRI Technologist – Memorial Regional Medical Center
Three 12‑hour shifts – Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 9am‑9pm.
Candidates accepting a full‑time offer may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 (rules & restrictions apply).
Job Summary
The MRI Tech is responsible for daily modality operations, performing MRI according to protocols under the direction of the Radiologist. The role also involves training and onboarding new employees and supervising MRI students.
Essential Functions
- Completes assigned tasks within appropriate timeframe and demonstrates flexibility to workload fluctuations.
- Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
- Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety.
- Properly positions patients, inputs patient information, selects scan parameters, performs scans, administers contrast agents, manipulates images, performs quality assurance tests, and maintains clinical competency.
- Evaluates patient, verifies ID, prepares for procedure, screens for metal safety, ensures comfort, monitors condition, troubleshoots equipment, and reports malfunction.
- Participates in education/instruction of students and orientation of new staff.
- Participates in performance‑improvement projects and assists department in audit results.
Education
- Associate’s degree in a program accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (preferred).
Required Licensing & Certifications
- MRI Registry from an accredited organization (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) (required).
- State licensure (preferred unless required by the state where the job is performed).
- Certification and registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology (required) and advanced MRI registries (required; must be obtained within one year of hire).
Experience
- One year of experience in an MRI department in a hospital setting (preferred).
Skills & Abilities
- Logical conclusions, problem solving, critical thinking, highly organized, medical terminology.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change.
- Proactively assists physicians and patients with examinations and/or procedures.
- Documents unusual activities and patient history.
- Educates patients regarding exam type and contrast injection.
- Maintains confidentiality, follows OSHA standards and universal precautions.
Training
- EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
- PACS (preferred).
