MRI Technologist, Days, Full-time (1.0 FTE)

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures in Magnetic Resonance Imaging under limited supervision, independently performing MRI procedures and exercising independent judgment, initiative and ingenuity. External contacts include patients, family members and physicians; internal contacts include nursing staff and management.

Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide expedient care and compassionate treatment to each patient.
• Position patients accurately with accessory devices and instruct them on breathing control, selecting technical factors that compensate for patient size, age and mobility.
• Operate MRI equipment per established health and safety regulations and procedural guides.
• Utilize sterile technique to prevent contamination.
• Participate in the department's quality assurance program and perform assigned quality control tasks.
• Maintain proficiency through continuing education and in‑service programs.
• Attend department meetings and special meetings as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms per infection control policy.
• Assist in development, review and revision of MRI policies and procedures.
• Act as MRI Safety Officer and maintain competency.
• Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• Preferred: two years of MRI experience in a hospital setting.

Required Licenses, Certifications and Registrations

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI within one year of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Comprehensive working knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment and proper care routines.
• Knowledge of all basic and special DI procedures performed at Summit Pacific Medical Center.
• Ability to adapt exams to address patient care problems and make timely decisions.
• Knowledge of growth, development and life‑stage principles to meet patient needs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and related software, including PACS/RIS.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to cultivate effective partnerships with providers and other health‑care professionals.
• Strong organizational, analytical and multitasking skills; flexibility in a fast‑paced environment.
• Familiarity with basic office equipment (telephone, copier, fax, computer).
• Ability to work on‑call shifts as assigned.
