MRI Tech - 3x12s 7:00am-7:30pm Monday-Friday
Requirements:
- NYS license and certification as a radiologic, nuclear medicine or ultrasound tech.
- Experience: Rad Tech program (AMA approved 2‑year program) and prior diagnostic radiology experience.
Education: Minimum – A.A.S. degree in Radiologic Technology.
License/Certifications: NYS license; certification as a radiologic, nuclear medicine or ultrasound technologist, with formal MRI‑specific training preferred.
Experience: Radiology Technology program (AMA approved 2‑year) plus previous diagnostic radiology experience. Preferred – 1‑2 years in related radiology fields with MRI experience.
Other: Maintains mandatory CEC‑12 per year in Radiologic Technology.
Responsibilities Summary: Performs technical MRI assignments. Exercises complex skill, judgement and knowledge of the principles and methods of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Performs diagnostic MRI studies as requested. Performs Infection Control according to Universal Precautions. MRI technologist shall be able to provide care to infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.
Essential Job Functions
- Operates MRI equipment, coils and related equipment with accuracy. Evaluates image quality and demonstrates accurate MRI positioning and coil selection based on procedure guidelines.
- Demonstrates competency in RIS, utilizing it to enter and edit patient demographics and charges, and recording other appropriate data. Demonstrates competency with PACS for image processing, image review, proper protocol selection and troubleshooting.
- Ensures proper magnet safety is adhered to for self, patient and other personnel through proper screening techniques.
- Ensures and follows prescribed techniques for administering all aspects of MRI and contrast media. Recognizes emergency situations related to reactions to contrast media and takes appropriate action.
