Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams with professional judgment and adherence to MRI safety considerations to provide quality patient care.
- Initiates life support measures as necessary and interacts effectively with patients, family members, physicians, and other health care workers.
- Operates MRI equipment, positions patients for comfort, and administers contrast material as required.
- Obtains patient history and clinical indication for MRI study; documents accurately in patient records and uses electronic medical record software for scheduling and billing.
- Develops an understanding of patient physical and emotional status; demonstrates knowledge of cross-section anatomy and cares for patients of all ages.
- May perform mobile imaging, EKGs, cardiac monitor placement, and DEXA procedures; on-call rotations nights, weekends, and holidays may be required based on facility needs.
- Performs basic diagnostic radiology tasks and adheres to general radiology protocols.
Qualifications
- Formal Radiologic Technology training from AMA approved or JRCERT accredited program.
- ARRT certification or ARMRIT certification required at time of hire.
- MRI training or experience preferred.
- Licensure in North Dakota (ND) through the ND Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board if practicing in ND. In Iowa, a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and recertification as required.
- MRI certification or certification-to-be-obtained within two years post-hire is preferred per accreditation requirements.
