University Radiology, the largest provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in NJ, employs over 200 board‑certified radiologists with advanced U.S.‑based training in all modalities and subspecialty areas. For more than 60 years, we have staffed, managed, and provided preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations and consultative support for hospitals, imaging centers, and other medical facilities, and we serve as the academic radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our physicians interpret over 2.1 million radiology procedures per year.

This company is seeking a full‑time MRI Technologist Assistant to assist the Remote MRI Technologist at our Radiology Operations Command Center (ROCC). The role will be based in the Tinton Falls, NJ Office and will cover shifts in other shore offices.

This position will be Monday – Friday from 11:30 am – 8:00 pm.

  • Eligible for 15% shift differential pay

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Remote MRI Technologist with patient flow and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of imaging coils and position patients safely and efficiently in the MRI scanner.
  • Communicate with the Remote MRI Technologist effectively.
  • Explain procedures to patients.
  • Screen patients with a metal detection wand for safe entrance into the MR room.
  • Obtain and document clinical information from patients or referring physicians for the scheduled procedure.
  • Record accurate patient history with all necessary MRI safety information.
  • Ensure compliance with pre‑certification requirements for exams performed.
  • Perform vital signs.
  • Know the application and location of supply items in the department.
  • Locate patient information and images using current systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the MR scan room and patient changing area.
  • Lift coils of up to 30 lbs and assist in lifting patients onto the examination table.
  • Complete all mandatory annual URG in‑services.
  • Adhere to all department and facility safety protocols while performing duties near specialized imaging equipment.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 MR safety trained.
  • CPR certified.
  • Completion of an approved MR Technologist Assistant program, including hands‑on clinical training.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Medical office experience a plus, but not required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology a plus, but not required.

Salary determinations will be made upon numerous factors including but not limited to years of experience, education, and operational needs.
