PRN MRI Technologist
Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a PRN MRI Technologist to join our team! The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging studies using a magnetic resonance device that includes preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, performing computer processing, and displaying images. Selects appropriate imaging protocol for patient studies. Performs quality assurance scans as required. Demonstrates the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department.
Essential functions include setting up and operating MRI scanners used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients, ensuring the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis, positioning patients and setting up and adjusting equipment to obtain the best quality MRI image of the specific body area requested by the physician, taking preventative steps to ensure safety of patients and fellow staff, addressing patient concerns during the procedure, implementing infection control procedures for the work area, checking MRI for clarity of image, and distributing films to appropriate medical staff and transfer images to electronic medical records (EMR).
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures, knowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques, knowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically, knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work, knowledge of human anatomy, knowledge of computer and relevant software applications, strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
