Onsite Full Time IT & Technology

We are seeking a Motor Drive Firmware Engineer with strong expertise in embedded systems, real-time control, and motor drive technologies. In this role, you will develop high-performance embedded firmware that powers our autonomous platforms, ensuring precise, reliable, and efficient motor operation. You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate firmware with hardware and optimize system performance from prototype through production.

Embedded Firmware Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for real-time motor control applications.
  • Implement high-frequency control loops and deterministic firmware for BLDC, PMSM, and similar motor systems.
  • Develop and optimize motor control algorithms, including PID and Field-Oriented Control (FOC), for high-performance electromechanical systems.

Hardware Integration & Bring-Up

  • Partner with electrical engineers during hardware bring-up to validate motor control boards, power stages, gate drivers, and sensor feedback systems.
  • Integrate firmware with embedded hardware to ensure reliable communication between motors, sensors, and control electronics.
  • Support hardware validation from initial power-up through system integration and production readiness.
  • Debug embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot control loop performance, timing, communication, and signal integrity issues.
  • Optimize firmware for latency, efficiency, robustness, and reliability in resource-constrained embedded environments.
  • Perform laboratory and field testing to validate motor performance under real-world operating conditions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing embedded firmware with a focus on motor control systems.
  • Strong experience with BLDC and PMSM motor control, motor drivers, power electronics, and real-time control loops.
  • Proficiency programming embedded systems in C/C++.
  • Experience working with microcontroller platforms such as STM32, TI C2000, or similar embedded processors.
  • Strong debugging skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other embedded development tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing Field-Oriented Control (FOC) or other advanced motor control algorithms.
  • Experience developing RTOS-based or bare-metal real-time embedded firmware.
  • Familiarity with firmware integration for electromechanical systems, actuators, and precision motion control applications.
  • Experience working with high-reliability, aerospace, defense, robotics, or autonomous systems.
  • Understanding of embedded communication protocols and hardware interfaces commonly used in motor control applications.
