On-the-Job Training Available Under general supervision, the Mosquito Control Technician performs duties associated with the distribution of pesticide for the control of mosquitoes in the identified areas of the County. Employee must qualify for and maintain certifications in such field. Reports to the Facilities Management Director.Distributes larvacide in accordance with product label.Distributes adulticide in accordance with product label.Establishes and maintain records as required and provide same to supervisor.Assists in the distribution of related forms and literature.Attends all necessary meetings and/or conferences relating to County mosquito control as required.Responds to complaints from citizens; communicates with citizens in an effective and courteous manner.Resolves and cleans up chemical spills as required.Assists in establishing and maintaining route sheets; may schedule work of other drivers.Maintains log/route book to coincide with release form.Performs other duties as assigned.On-the-job training period will allow the candidate to acquire:Basic knowledge of standards, methods, pesticides and equipment used in an effective mosquito control program.Basic knowledge of various adulticide and larvicide chemicals.Basic knowledge of the occupational hazards and proper safety precautions to be taken when handling, transporting and applying pesticides. Possession of a high school diploma/GED.Must be at least 18 years old.To be considered for this position, your online application must include three (3) professional references.

Possession of Pesticide Registered Technician license from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, or obtain within 90 days of employment. The Pesticide Registered Technician license requires a minimum of forty (40) hours on-the-job training in pesticide application and successfully passing the Registered Technician Examination.
Pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination.
