We are looking for a hands-on QA Engineer to join our Software QA team in New York City. This is a hybrid in-person role for someone who enjoys using the product, finding what others miss, and working directly with engineers and product partners to make every release better
You will spend most of your time testing real product workflows across our mobile applications, cloud software, and connected ultrasound devices. You do not need to know everything on day one. You do need to be curious, thorough, comfortable speaking up, and excited to learn how a medical technology product is built and released
Test new features and existing workflows across mobile applications, cloud software, and connected devices
Create clear, practical test cases and execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing
Use Butterfly products regularly and test the full experience from device to mobile application to cloud platform
Work closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Regulatory, and Quality teams to understand requirements and identify issues early
Document defects clearly, including steps to reproduce, expected behavior, actual behavior, screenshots, logs, and other useful details
Verify fixes and help the team make sound release decisions based on product risk and customer impact
Improve our test coverage, test data, release checklists, and day-to-day QA practices as you grow in the role
Benefits
100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision (flexible buy-up plans with employee contributions)
Life insurance and disability coverage for you and your family
HSA for out-of-pocket expenses, plus other pre-tax savings like the Dependent Care Account (DCA)
Pre-tax or post-tax 401(k) contributions (company match vests immediately)
Employee stock purchase plan
Recognition program and other rewards
Flexible (reasonable) PTO, along with 10 US holidays observed each year
Birthday PTO
Hybrid work model for most positions
Offices designed for collaboration, with comfortable workspaces, stocked kitchens, and opportunities to connect with peers
Opportunity to build a revolutionary healthcare product and save millions of lives!
Parental leave and support for employees during pregnancy loss
Experience using logs, browser tools, API clients, or basic SQL to investigate issues
Experience with bug-tracking and test-management tools, such as Jira
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Butterfly Network will not provide immigration sponsorship of any kind for this position, including but not limited to H-1B, TN, O-1, L-1, or green card sponsorship (this includes applicants that are in the process of obtaining a greencard), now or in the future
Strong written communication and the ability to explain a problem clearly and objectively
Experience in testing mobile applications that connect to hardware or external devices
Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or another regulated industry
Experience creating or maintaining automated tests
2+ years of hands-on software testing experience, or equivalent experience demonstrating strong product judgment and attention to detail
Experience testing mobile applications, web applications, or cloud-connected products
Comfort working closely with engineers and product partners in a fast-moving environment
A practical understanding of test planning, test execution, regression testing, and defect management
