The MDS Director is responsible for managing resident admission evaluations to ensure compliance with Medicare standards. This role involves cross-departmental collaboration to maintain high-quality care and support organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

The MDS Director is responsible for managing resident admission evaluations to ensure compliance with Medicare standards. This role involves cross-departmental collaboration to maintain high-quality care and support organizational objectives.

  • Perform comprehensive assessments for Medicare Part A residents using MDS 3.0.
  • Communicate Medicare-related updates to relevant teams and departments.
  • Lead educational initiatives on nursing and regulatory topics.
  • Analyze and report quality metrics and indicators.
  • Assess Medicare eligibility for admissions and coordinate assessment schedules.
  • Keep abreast of changes in MDS reporting and provide necessary training.
  • Collaborate with the Rehabilitation Department to ensure accurate therapy documentation.
  • Oversee clinical aspects of the Quick Care program and contribute to staff training.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare Skilled Care Guidelines and MDS 3.0 regulations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York and RAC-CT certification.
  • Preferred management experience and expertise in gerontological nursing.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and work effectively in team environments.
