Heavy Equipment OperatorThe role is scheduled for 12-hour shifts, which include 1 hour of paid drive time. The schedule is a rotating day and night shift, changing every 2 weeks. Pay Range $23.
Local candidates are still preferred, but we are open to candidates within that range. Widen the candidate search radius to roughly one hour from Battle Mountain. Acceptable nearby towns would include: Winnemucca, Elko, Carlin, Golconda, Paradise Valley, Crescent Valley, Austin.Job Code: Position Description• Operates heavy earth moving equipment, such as track type dozers, loaders, backhoes, off-road trucks, graders, and rock drills in a strip mine.Job FunctionsOperate heavy equipment that includes pushing waste and ore dumps;Keeping records of loads and equipment fueling, maintenance, etc.;Performing operational maintenance such as greasing, fueling, cleaning and checking wear parts;Cleaning tracks, buckets, cabs with shovels, picks and brooms;Supporting mechanics in performing mechanical repair on occasion;Servicing equipment as necessary, such as changing lubricants, filters, and wear parts;Other tasks may be assigned from time to time.Physical Requirements• Climb onto and off of equipment, often many times in a shift;• Maintain concentration while performing repetitive equipment cycles for durations up to several hours;• Lift, carry and manipulate heavy duty wrenches and tools, in installing wear parts, servicing equipment, and when generally supporting mechanics;• Work on shift schedules including afternoon and graveyard shifts;• Perform repetitive hand and arm functions as are required operating jacks, ratchet wrenches, chain hoists and come-alongs.HSE Requirements• Be responsible for compliance with regulatory requirements and the Company's procedures and guidelines in the performance of their duties.• Perform their job safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.• Continually inspect their work areas for unsafe or substandard conditions or unsafe work practices.• Correct or take interim action on any unsafe or substandard conditions or practices that they observe and report to the immediate supervisor.• Participate, as required, in all training classes and exercises.• Participate, as required, in all HSE performance development activities and systems.• Report all injury, near-miss, property damage and hazardous conditions to their immediate supervisor.
