Mine Waste Civil/Geotechnical EngineerWSP is currently initiating a search for a Mine Waste Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Waste team in Lakewood, CO. The following locations will also be considered: Anchorage, AK; Madison, WI; or St. Louis, MO.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects.Working within our Mine Waste team on civil and geotechnical engineering projects for the mining industryPerforming engineering tasks such as:Geotechnical field investigationsSite and material characterizationDesign of facilities including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluationsSlope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and deformation analyses to support facility designsSurface water management analysis and facility designsPreparing technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designsAssisting with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimatesPerforming domestic and international field assignments, such as geotechnical investigations and construction monitoringWorking with and leading multi-disciplinary project teamsSupporting technical proposals and design work package in response to client needsManaging the work of junior engineersMentoring peers and fostering a good work cultureComply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies and surveys, and constructionComplete training on assigned tasksExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and proceduresPerforming additional responsibilities as required by business needsBachelor's Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering, or closely related disciplineEngineer in Training Certification3 to 5 years of relevant post education experienceStrong analytical skills including the ability to complete engineering calculations and analysesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work both independently and on teamsComfortable working in remote settingsAn active focus on health and safety for themselves and othersAbility and willingness to travel both domestically and internationallyProficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and toolsAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweekOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirementsMaster's Degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological engineering, or an equivalent field of studyProfessional Engineer Registration or the ability to complete the PE exam within 6 months to 1 year of start datePrior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering disciplineProject management experience with small to mid-level projects including scoping, and tracking hours and expenses for project work commensurate with years of experienceFamiliarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD,Civil 3D, Muk3D)Familiarity with discipline-specific geotechnical analysis software (i.e., Slide2D, Slope/W, Seep/W)WSP Benefits:WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on a providing health and financial stability throughout the employee's career.
