We operate sawmills in Colville and Usk, WA. Vaagen Bros. Lumber, Inc. currently employs over 175 employees.The primary role of the Millwright position is to maintain machine centers and equipment with a continued focus on safety, and productivity.

The Company is looking for a variety of different level skilled Millwrights to join the team. The desirable applicant will have a mindset of constant improvement and willingness to go above and beyond.Job Description:Maintain mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, air & conveying systemsPerform all preventative maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and welding repair tasksStick welding, electrical, and hydraulic repairHeavy equipment and machinery repairPerforms mandatory visual inspection of the equipment and facilities before useKnow, Understand, and Apply the Lock-out Tag-out proceduresMaintain lines of communication with other team membersEnsure tools, supplies, and equipment are in their "home locations" at all timesMaintain a clean and safe work areaLearning and applying lean business practicesFill out a maintenance request and Idea Cards when neededOther duties as assignedMillwright Trainee:Understand machine center risks and safety proceduresLearning the basic skillsets of Millwright tradeKnowledge of inventory locations, service calls, inventory management, and partsMillwright 1:Proper use of tools and equipmentAssist in replacing time chains, and bearingsMake hydraulic hosesMillwright 2:Identify points of failure and proper replacement proceduresAlign sheaves and sprocketsProperly tension drive chains and drive beltsUnderstand hydraulic and pneumatic schematicsMillwright 3:Whistle chase, perform repairs, and maintain machine center uptimeAlign motors and couplers with a dial indicatorPerform bearing failure reportSplice conveyor beltsOperate lathe, drilling, milling, and key cutting machinesMillwright 4:Assist in training and mentoring of new employeesTroubleshoot all areas throughout the plantSet tolerances and load bearingsSet and charge accumulators on hydraulic systemsRead and understand blueprintsJob Requirements:Demonstrate problem solving and technical troubleshooting skillsStrong computer, communication, planning and organization skillsProvide necessary tools for repairEnsure safe work practices & follow safety proceduresDependable and reliable with a good attendance recordAbility to streamline processes and cut waste within area of responsibilityLean techniques and experience preferredMust be 18+ years old to work in an industrial sawmill environmentMust have HS Diploma/GEDMust be able to continuously stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, climb, and reach above shoulders safely. The weight required to be lifted each normal workday may occasionally exceed fifty (50) pounds at a timeApplicants will be subject to a criminal background check.
