Mill Operator (Bridgeport)The Mill Operator (Bridgeport) is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating the Mill.Primary ResponsibilitiesSpecializes in operating one type of machine tool (Mill) used in making or maintaining jigs, fixtures or gages.Planning and performing difficult operations which require complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy.Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints or layouts while using a variety of precision measuring instruments.Maintains a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery, as well as supply charts of Q1 functions.Secondary Responsibilities as RequiredAssists at other machines in Manufacturing when neededEducation and ExperienceRequires extensive knowledge of machine shop practices usually acquired through extensive on the job training and experience.Journeyman (machining) or 6 years equivalent experience.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDegree of mechanical aptitude, mathematics and print reading skillsAbility to work independently and to manage one's time effectivelyKnowledge/experience with other machines (lathe, manual mill, I.D./O.D.
