Remote Contract writing

Role Overview

Apply military writing and reporting expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through realistic, standards-aligned government communication. You will create, review, and assess documentation that reflects authentic Department of Defense processes and helps establish effective reporting benchmarks. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create realistic military and federal status reports, summaries, and executive updates from prompts and supplied materials.
  • Develop high-quality reference responses for AI training.
  • Create grading rubrics and assessment guidance based on federal and military writing best practices.
  • Evaluate AI-generated reports and provide detailed written and verbal feedback.
  • Explain stylistic differences and common approaches for documents such as Weekly Activity Reports, Situation Reports, After-Action Reviews, and executive summaries.
  • Prepare supporting materials, including decision briefs, memoranda, and action officer updates, as needed.
  • Collaborate remotely with subject matter experts to support varied reporting styles and branch-specific terminology.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a former U.S. Department of Defense professional.
  • Experience producing templated or standardized reports, including WARs, SITREPs, After-Action Reviews, or comparable documents.
  • Strong knowledge of military writing, federal documentation standards, Department of Defense procedures, compliance practices, report generation, evaluation, and grading-rubric development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical or operational topics clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to create, grade, and review military or federal back-office documents, PowerPoint presentations, memoranda, and spreadsheets.
  • Experience across two or more U.S. military branches is preferred, and a varied background across roles is valued.
  • Comfort working remotely on detailed, procedural reporting work.

Work Terms

  • Independent contractor engagement.
  • Remote position, available only to U.S.-based contributors.

Compensation

$40 to $80 per hour.
