Military Behavioral Health Clinician

The Military Behavioral Health Clinician provides direct clinical services within the 28-day Military Behavioral Health Recovery Program. The clinician delivers evidence-based individual, group, and family interventions while supporting participants through the four phases of the recovery model: Understand, Process, Restore, and Reintegrate. The clinician serves as a primary therapist, facilitating therapeutic groups, coordinating interdisciplinary care, engaging family members, and helping participants develop individualized Recovery plans for successful reintegration.

Essential Duties

  • Clinical Care
  • Complete Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCA)
  • Develop individualized treatment plans
  • Provide individual psychotherapy
  • Facilitate evidence-based group therapy
  • Facilitate evidence-based individual therapy as warranted
  • Conduct family sessions when warranted
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning
  • Complete discharge planning with Case Management

Program Curriculum

  • Facilitate assigned modules including: Psychoeducation Skills training Guided workbook activities After Action Reviews (AARs) Recovery development

Evidence-Based Practice

  • Provide interventions utilizing one or more of: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Motivational Interviewing (MI) Solution-Focused Therapy Trauma-Informed Care Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills Relapse Prevention Prolonged Exposure Therapy

Individual Sessions (as warranted)

  • Conduct weekly individual sessions addressing: Treatment progress Trauma processing (within scope and readiness) Goal development Family dynamics Military transition Recovery planning Safety planning Discharge preparation

Documentation

  • Complete documentation including: CCA Master Treatment Plan Progress Notes Individual Session Notes Group Documentation Family Session Notes Recovery summary Discharge Summary

Collaboration

  • Work closely with: MD Nursing Recreational Therapy Case Management Business Development Military Program Manager Executive Director
  • Qualifications

    • Education: Master's Degree specializing in social work preferred, will consider clinical related mental health areas for strong candidates with demonstrated experience.
    • Experience: Five (5) years' experience in the mental health/behavioral health field. Three years inpatient psych experience is preferred.
    • Licensure: Current unrestricted North Carolina license: LCSW or LCSW(A). Will consider LCMHC, LCMHC-A, LMFT, LMFT-A, Licensed Psychologist with demonstrated strong clinical skills and experience treating specific military populations.
    • Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Management of Aggressive Behavior training within 90 days of employment. Thorough knowledge of JCAHO/HCFA, OSHA, state and federal regulatory requirements.
